“Fiber smile of a beauty”, Oxana Bondarenko.

“Essence of Bride” is the fifth solo exhibition of Aliza Souleyeva.
Exposition presents grattography and fiber art.
Modern art gallery “Tengri Umai” allowed us to see very unusual,
original media of applied art – fiber art, more than 30 pieces.
Canvases are created from wool with elements of batik.
All of the work was made by hand: wool processing,silk painting, and embroidery.
Main theme of the exhibition is addressed to the ancient
Kazakh wedding customs – “Acquaintance”, “Rendezvous”, “Bride-money”,
and “Marriage portion”.  Aliza uses Eastern symbolism in her work.
Grattography – is a kind of graphic with use of parrafin wax. 
There are national motives in the artist’s graphic work as well.
The color combinations are very interesting – tones of terracotta,
rich red, dark blue, and peach.  I would say the symphony of color.

Personal exhibition “Time River” of Aliza Souleyeva has taken place at
art museum “Umai”.
Aliza is engaged in grattography and fiber art techniques.
This is the third solo exhibition of the artist, where her work is
presented in several series: “Childhood”, “Silk Road”, “Spirals”,
and “On the shore”. “Time River” for Aliza is our life that flows, changes
and never stops for a minute. The young artist wants to show through her
work that every human being is individual and unique;
every person is the creator of his own destiny.  Aliza’s art work radiate
light, glory, and optimism. 
Aliza enjoys working with material, feeling its warmth. This is one of the
reasons why she creates fiber art. Sometimes, she spends weeks for creating
one small peace of the fiber art. Grattography is another Aliza’s favorite
technique. It is a difficult and not widely known media of visual art.
Some people can say that it is just an etching through paraffin wax.
First base is a paper with a layer of paint, which is going to be a future contour.
It is covered with paraffin wax then, and layered with paint again. Mostly,
acrylic and gouache are used for grattography. When base is ready, it can be etched
with the composition of silhouettes, houses...
